1993 was a very special year for me, as it marked the very first time I was truly living on my own. In late 1992, I had moved from Elmont, New York (where I'd lived with my parents for 28 years) to Reading, Pennsylvania. Regrettably, despite landing a job (which only lasted six months), and living near a scenic section of town, I would eventually move from Reading to Margate, Florida in January, 1994...
One of the main attractions of Reading is 'The Pagoda' - a multi-storied replica of Oriental architecture (built atop the site of an abandoned coal mine on Mount Penn), looking beautiful at night when it's all aglow in red neon lights (which can be seen from miles away)!
Having visited 'The Pagoda' several times during 1993, I was inspired to create a special piece of holiday stationery, by drawing a knock-off of 'Rudolph' - substituting the red glowing building for the reindeer's signature nose...
Originally, I'd added color to the black-and-white line drawing with colored pencils. But for this 2016 version, I'd used my Paint.net program to add newer colored enhancements...
