Probably someone shurely inspired ;) ! I inspired too one time from a your work... Escaflowne has a lot of references to Gundam... the main-mecha is white and different from the other ones... and his worst enemy ? is a red ace, like the Red comet on Gundam... and there are many other similar particulars with that...
this image, and the situation it depicts, reminds me of a cartoon i saw in very early 80's, where a tribe of bird people tried to kidnap a large steampowered mecha. no idea wht the name of the cartoon was, i saw it only once. it was coloured and had the animation quality of disney's cartoons without the excessive shading.
