Once, long ago... a song was written which redefined the way we think about softer, more emotive music which connected to the generation at the time.
But a good 7 years before Nothing Else Matters was written, Tears For Fears wrote a song called "Mad World" and in 2001 there was a Gary Jules/Michael Andrews version which I really don't like one bit. It'd odd for me to prefer the electronic option as opposed to the acoustic instruments version but here we are. This is a cover of the Tears for Fears original, maintaining the synthy, popish atmosphere which made a dissonance between backing music and lyrics that makes the whole thing sorta work better for me.
I have a heavy metal version which I'll be uploading after this, so if you like it heavier, you might well want to give that a listen when it turns up!
Song composed by Roland Orzabal. Originally recorded by Tears for Fears in 1983
