Another "Twilight Zone" inspired comic, this time featuring Battling Maxxo, the Seven Time undefeated champion of the Fighting Robot World! This image was rendered shortly after Maxxo's last fight where a newer Class Seven fighting robot turned the former champion into a "Junk Pile."

*sighs* I see something like this every time I find an old computer in the trash or at some thrift store for $6.95. I alwas feel the need to buy it, fix it, and give it to someone who appreciates it. Given the volitile, fast turnover market, computers become "Obsolete", being trashed while they still function. It's a crying shame.
Your drawing evokes a strong sense of sadness. Like anyone who has lost a job or was forcibly "Retired", there's a sense of memories of the past, followed by an uncertain, dimly lit future, tainted by feelings of self-unworth brought on by other's views. It's really sad seeing this robot boxer strapped to the appliance dollie, and even more so to see that simple handwritten note taped to him.

Over here at the retirement village where I live I often see computers thrown out in the trash. This either means someone got a newer system, or they coldn't keep the old one. Still, I feel as you do about the waste of good technology. I must confess that this piece is also a bit "Autobiographical" as I drew it shortly after I got laid off from my last job in 2003.
Well, as most sports movies go, the plot has been used numerous times. As in, a fighter who has fallen on hard times, having the chance to make a comeback.
What was interesting was learning how the advent of robot boxing, made human fighters obsolete, because people wanted more violent fighting matches, which only the robots could provide.
Another thing, was Atom's fighting style. Hugh Jackman's character was a boxer before the advent of robot fighting, so he knew what moves Atom needed to make, simple yet effective ones.
