Text-heavy submission doesn't need much in the way of artist commentary down here. ;)
Though in case there is ANY confusion...
Farfalla is Sighthoundlady's.
SA is Darkhorse's.
The Percheron is Khorkan's.
Paintedmare is Tathi's.
Fever is Defiler's.
NO STEALIE unless one of those lovely mares belongs to you. ;)
Technically this is a sketch but with all the effort I sunk into it, I'm calling it a finished artwork. ;)

No worries, her colors are crazy difficult to reproduce for me too-- I saw her in a dream, and she was like a living watercolor. Ironically, I have yet to actually paint her -in- watercolors. Go figure. XD She's completely lovely, thank you so much. You, btw, were the one that made me like appaloosas, way back in the days of E-R. With all those crazy layers of markings for the colored game graphics!
XD!!!! So ironic that I was totally BANNENATED from that damn game. e.e Unfortunately the creator was kindof fucking insane and allsuch...in the meantime, I'm occasionally kicking around on VHR, if yer ever in need of a gaming partner, LOL!!!
Ooooh, sounds pretty. I may have to bust out my paints sometime soon!!! 8D!!! *cough*ifIcanfindthemthatis*cough*

Thanks! :) I did it largely because lately all my horses, from Arabians to Suffolk Punches, look alike. Makes me INSANE, and I wanted to refocus myself and force myself to recognise how many different body types there are again. I plan to do a similar one for stallions, and if I can find enough subject matter, geldings too. :)
Feathering rocks my world...on the Clydes, Shires, Fresians, Irish Cobs and Drums where it belongs. ;) On any other, it just looks silly. :P I swear, some days it is like people have no idea that more than one kind of heavy horse exists!!!

You mean not every draft horse looks like a Gypsy Vanner? XD That's a problem I have too.
It's difficult to remember to exaggerrate the differences when drawing horses. It's easy to draw a horse..it's when you get into specifics it's tough.
If you..um..need a gelding character to draw in your lineup I have a miniature one: http://www.furaffinity.net/view/2059094/ (because goshdarnit more people need to just geld their damn minis. small =/= not contributing to over-population)

Beautifully done, and with little details...I think I'm gonna draw her up a reference sheet. Because I love seeing how others draw her, and when someone asks what her colour/body type is like, I can just point to the reference.
Thank you. And I'm sure she'll love it when she sees it.

I must second the Tathiburd's EEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE. Had forgotten just how awesome the NDH's body type is – and the way you drew Fever, she looks so tense and violent!
That aside this is a splendid look at the wide variations within the species – everything from the width, length, and set of the legs, to the curvature of the spine, to the shape of the thighs, to the myriad angles and proportions of the head.
BTW, what's the rib anomaly you mentioned in Arabians? You've prolly explained this before but - you know my memory. >_>;

LOL, I may not have...I don't often discuss the random oddness with various breeds insofar as actual anatomical anomalies. :) Though let me look it up to make sure I have the numbers accurate...
...from the book Spirit of the Horse: "One of the most notable differences between the Arabian and other breeds is the number of vertebrae: all other equine breeds have eighteen ribs, six lumbar vertebrae and eighteen tail bones; the Arabian has seventeen ribs, five lumbar vertebrae, and sixteen tail bones. He has another unique feature known as the mitbah, which is the angle where the head meets the neck."
*gnaws on Fever* :D I'm planning a similar sketch project for gelding and stallions, and maybe a combination to show the physical differences between a mare, gelding and stallion (and to subtley berate the majority of equine furries for basically slapping testicles onto geldings...seriously.) and Mulefoot had an awesome idea...a sketch project to show the glaring differences between horses and other equine species. :) Lord knows most folk just slap a lion's tail onto a horse and call that a donkey. e.e
So yes. MUCH TO DO, and it's helping me not totally suck, artwise. :)

Hell I'd just be happy with a good clydesdale piccie <3 they're so pretty and powerful and BIGGGG
I know its not reasonable, but a dream of mine is to ride a clydesdale one day.
One riding those probably isn't common at ALLLLL.
two. Although i've wanted to, i've never really ridden a horse other than fairs around in a circle.
I'd love to though <3

OOOOH, I now demand refs of your Boulonnais. Also you win the internet for knowing that breed even exists. XD So many folk on this site seem to think the only drafters out there are Clydes and Shires. e.e
But yes, I will be doing this for stallions and geldings, too. :D

yay! :D I love boulonnais! they are so very awesome. For me, the most beuatiful draft horses out there! Broad shoulders and chest, well muscled, enourmous neck and tiny well muscled butt! I love their heads and eyes.
Unfortunately I have no actual refs of my character as a quad. =/ He has a quad form, yes. But i seldomly draw him. I have not enough time to draw all the things I'd like to draw. -_-
Well he's an unnatural color, though. I don't know if that botheres you. In Quad form he is *just* a boulonnais - no wings. I usually draw him with the horns, though, and sometimes with eight hooves, but four legs. But he exists as a normal quad, too. :)
Here's a ref-sheet for his anthro form: http://www.furaffinity.net/view/1904242/ the colors came out odd... I usually want to achieve a red roan with grey shading dapples. I love red roans. I know there are no boulonnais roans, but I just love the color anyway. ;)
Damn I dearly need to draw a ref for his quad form. I will do so, soon. I love this picture I found on the web: http://www.learn-about-horses.com/i.....is-draught.jpg
So utterly adorable. I would give everything to have a boulonnais some day.
