I'm pretty sure she's gaining weight intentionally. There was an older image where she woke Chelsea up to show off what had to be about a pound or two on her belly.
Maybe she takes the "Never trust a thin chef." (Or baker in her case) thing very seriously and thinks being fat will make more people assume her food is really good.
Obviously she enjoys it too, judging by the look on her face as she pats her belly.
