I haven't written anything in a long time but I felt like i really should for this piece, at least a couple paragraphs to try to start into the habit again, a bit of the setting from my setting. Dang I want to run or participate in a tabletop game again. Anyways.
The quick little writing turned out sort of bad but the image is still very good so look at that instead
The old lands of Ilvos, abandoned decades ago, when the thick fog of tragedy filled the forest, left off most maps as a deliberate tactic to dissuade any potential visitors. Of course, the secrecy only leads to the growth of the legend, because who could resist such a story? Ancient towers, deep in the forest, surrounding the base of the Farrim mountain, filled with the treasures left behind, both monetary and magical. As now the fog begins to recede and life returns to the land, explorers and treasurehunters go to find that abandoned once does not mean that nothing lives there now.
With the towers' doors sealed off at the ground level, they were still vulnerable to entry from /below/ the ground level. With the windows and gates shut tight to keep out the mists, there was not much to distinguish the insides of the tower from a particularly lucrative cave, and as such it was first reclaimed by an exploratory mining crew. And so the restoration began. Below the towers, the kobolds continued to dig, to claim the material wealth the nation once held in its stone, while inside they labored and learned, trying to puzzle out the mechanisms behind the arcane machinery that sat rusting in the spine of each of the towers.
And then, of course, at the top of the tower, was the Dragon.
