If I send you here for a design process please note that your options are not limited to this. If you want a more extreme, or strongly stylized anatomy for your character just let me know!
Of course you may mix & match single features of each type.
Uploading this to help clients to figure out what basic anatomy they are looking for. (Because I did so many initial anatomy sketches for people by now it'll totally pay off to just have a proper sample sheet on hand at all times /"D)
This does not include body shapes such as athletic, muscular or chubby... or gender/species, for the matter. These are all generic reptiles - it's more about the very core idea of anthropomorphism. How much human, how much beast do you want your character to be? The more beastly it gets the more varied the options become. (Hunchbacked, partly four-legged, really long neck, huge torso but tiny legs, a Naga...) When commissioning me it doesn't end here (I do feral characters too), but I think I covered the most popular anatomy types here.
I also used some free space to push my struggle with tail attachments. In plenty of cases I put effort into attaching a thick tail aesthetically and functionally just to be told that "something looks weird"... I figured out that most people want butt-cheeks visible and "free" - which may or may not result into a tail that's attached to a string. (Just drawing the string-tails on every commission isn't wise either. I had somebody strictly requesting a change to make it more natural/realistic.) People have different tastes when it comes to those tails and where to attach them. I hope this provides help doing decisions.
(Even if you're not commissioning me, feel free to use this to communicate with your chosen character designer. Description text is fine but images are the safest way to communicate.)
