Pukki are from
weilundi
By far, amongst all the small cute races I have turned into warriors, this one is the most troublesome. Pukki are small humanoids that are a mix between goats, deer, antelope and other similar creatures. Their most prominent physical feature is the size of their horns, which are almost as tall as their actual bodies, if not actually. The problem arises from the fact that their fight/flight behavior is -extremely slanted towards flight-, to the point where the pukki in this image is pretty much an outcast, called a Known.
Pukki can be strong for their size but are limited by their stature. I would assume, however, that compact dense muscle can be developed with proper soldier training. They are naturally camouflaged according to the locale where they live. They are very agile, and capable climbers, which gives them an edge in warfare in rough terrain. Their fine motor skills are excellent, if hampered by their intellect. They are very fast, which is bred into them by their propensity as a species to flee and run at the first sign of trouble. Regular pukki are not very bright, stated as better than animals but worse than humans. In fact the only response you can draw from regular pukki is fear. Knowns, on the other hand, have the full gamut of emotions.
Overall this tells me that they will make for excellent skirmishers, scouts and markspukki, able to consistently seize the high ground and relocate like true snipers, with sufficient training in stealth, fieldcraft and markspukkiship. They work well with bone, wood, and stone, as opposed to metal, so their arrowheads would most likely be fieldpoints, which would give them further incentive to learn fieldcraft, trapmaking and survival training.
However it is stated by
weilundi that their most prevalent form of warfare is to form phalanxes and pulse forward into mass combat similar to early Greek warfare, which in my opinion would lead to more significant losses due to intense, close in, brutal fighting. However it is something they've developed from their culture rather than good tactical sense, going back to the fact that they're not very bright.
The greatest motivation all Known pukki share is a thirst for knowledge, which drives most of their actions and decisions. I'd like to think this one desires for military strategy, tactics, weaponmaking.
