After a visit to the school nurse and the principal, the duo once again got separated after their last, if not the final, encounter (and brawl) with another bully, even after school.
Staring at the blank walls of the detention room and the stern face of the discipline master, the same old face every teacher gave to him every time, Cain fought back his desire to cry as he wondered: Do the good guy always get punished? Do the bad guy always get away without being punished? Is it wrong to protect someone you loved?...
As the time ticked by, Marcus patiently waited outside the detention room for the release of his brother, even after their school bus had left without them. Seeing Cain in such an apathetic state every time he was brought here, Marcus couldn't help shedding a tear, as he thought to himself: Why do bullies kept picking on me all the time? Are I just too weak and stupid? If I am stronger, Cain won't have come to help me and get in trouble. It's all because of me...

Based on a real life event, I used to have a friend back in school who stood up for me no matter what. One day, he went and got into a fight with a bully who pestered me non-stop. He ended up in detention, and since that day, he never talked to me again, nor see me. I had always blamed myself then, thought it was my fault he got in trouble and all... I don't know where he is on earth now, but I still wish I can tell him he was my hero, even if he hated me till this day.

This brings back some painful memories. In my case though nobody stood up for me, I had to stance up for myself and just ended up in trouble for it all the time.
Likewise, my Timothy is a mirror of my totally innocent, defenseless side whom is afraid of having your stand up for himself because he knows he's no match for who might be tormenting him. Friendly on the other hand is not frightened, just wise enough to ignore the bullies and protect Timothy by being there for him - not so much actually fighting bullies as just ignoring them and 'taking away' the intended victim - Timothy.
