There's quite awhile before you will get to meet this little guy in the comic, but I've been getting a head start on drawing him now. :)

Loewy is a 14 year old leafy seadragon fry, aka a leafie. This particular leafie loves to get piercings, as you can see. And like most leafies, he can rotate his eyes independently of each other and change his skin color. While he often likes to settle on the purples you see here, that's not necessarily his default color scheme. Only his eye, hair and frill colors are static!

Wise beyond his years in many ways, yet still a vulnerable child in others, Lolo has dreams of making it big as a rock star, and he's attempting to start that career by building his own guitar. Also like many male seahorse fry*, Loewy loves stuffed dolls he can cuddle or hitch to with his tail for comfort, and usually is carrying at least one. And out of the entire Stupid Fortune Cookie cast, I gotta say that Mr. 82 lbs soaking wet here is probably the most supreme badass of them all. Seriously, I would not want to fuck with Lolo.

I fudged up on the gold leafing, coz' it was supposed to look like small speckles and not additional piercings, but hey, there's time to practice. :)


*since syngnathians like Loewy and Arkie have counterclockwise or reverse biology, the traits that they consider to be masculine are generally what other species would describe as feminine, and vice versa. Male fry like Loewy tend to have nurturing toys like dolls foisted on them while female fry like Arkie's daughter Cadence would be offered more rough and tumble & stem toys. Also, on paperwork, oftentimes you might see MALE/SYNG-F or FEMALE/SYNG-M listed; this is because syngnath females often get lumped in w/ males and syng-males w/ females, especially w/ medical records.
