Comming out of the Starfox fandom, I spent a long time drawing Arwings and writing stories based on Lylathian technology. Now that I am trying to make my own universe, I came to the realization that I have no spacecraft to work with which has been a major setback. Especially since I have learned I am terrible at coming up with hull designs myself. This however is my first breakthrough after countless sketches to try to come up with a new starfighter design. It is by no means an Arwing, but these little ships I am hoping will be the first in a line of craft for my Argon race to allow them to take the fight back to their enemy.
I nicknamed the original scribbles of the craft, the V-Wing, and it kind of stuck. V might also stand for Violet, which could be another name for this ship. Violets are fast and nimble, but very lightly armored. They have a decent shield and light phazer weapons, but they are better operating in groups that can overwhelm heavier Voluptrian fighters.
V1.3 - Just changed up a few things. I took off the big Phazer cannons and fixed a few perspective problems. The current color scheme is still experimental so I may change the yellows and blues out for something else later. This version of the Violet is a simple unarmed prototype version. I'll add in some weapons on the next version.

They are a bit static aren't they. I had thought that they could pivot slightly within their current mounts, but having them on the ends of those long wings will probably force a pilot to keep some distance from his target in order to bring it into the kill zone.
This is a first draft so I'm going to be designing a few variants of this ship until it's design is perfect. Perhaps the variant with these huge phazer cannons is more of a dive bomber/tank buster. I'll add a belly gun to this variant that can pivot more freely for dogfighting.

Wow thanks for all the encouragement! And I know just what your talking about with the visualization. I have a big imagination, but I need to "get my claws into it." I usually say. I have trouble coming up with a design right away, but once I do or someone provides me some visuals, I dig in and can see it in all angles. I also tend to put my pen to paper and whatever happens I just expand on. That often doesn't come to a lot but technical scribbles, but I also do it to warm up before a real drawing.
Sometimes work gets me into a long spell of no art though I am always thinking about RP and writing down notes. I suppose there is a subconscious always pondering these things and looking for more than the mundane life we live. I know art and stories, especially my fan fiction years helped me tremendously through very dark times in my life. It is definitely an artists trait to find something deep inside and project it into an image, art is after all a form of language, communicating thoughts, feelings and ideas.
Boosters? I haven't given it much thought. Argons use lots of energy for their machines rather than fossil fuels. So I imagine it's something like a micro fusion core in the back of the ship that power some kind of powerful propulsion engines. I imagine they sound like formula one racers.
