I don't know why so many people are against Matthew when he basically did the same as Derek. I think many people forget that the lion also tried to force their relationship when he found him on the street with Jane, and Scott ignored him (pretty much like he ignored Matthew).
Both Derek and Matthew made the same mistake, and in my opinion Derek's was even worse because he made it in public, before one of Scott's friends.
The only difference is that Scott finally decided to go for the lion, and it seems that Matthew is only looking for forgiveness now. I think Scott is the one who is to blame for this situation. If he had spoken clearly to Matthew and Derek, none of this would have happened. And don't say he's changed, because he just lied again a few pages ago.
