Blitzen is a cheerful, if eccentric Pokemon. He loves to write, and often spends a lot of time in his room trying to work out his next big story. Blitzen hates fighting, and tends to worry about those who go off to fight themselves. He isn't a fighter himself, the only offensive move he can use regularly is Flamethrower. Blitzen is slow and methodical to match his pudgy weight, and has a tendency to be a perfectionist. Despite his pacifist attitude, Blitzen has a tendency to rush to the defense of his friends and become angry at their behalf. He is shy at first but quickly opens up to new people he trusts.

He was bred along with his older sister Blizzra by an elderly Pokemon breeder named Matthew. He was taught how to read and write to communicate with Matthew, and after he passed away Blitzen squatted in the old house while Blizzra went off on her own. After being discovered and having to flee, Blitzen found his way to Clearspring.

He is a predatory Flareon, but has disdain towards Pokemon who digest others without reforming them. His method of 'hunting' is as methodical as the rest of his personality. After getting to know someone he is an incredible tease, preferring to get his prey so worked up that they will practically crawl into his jaws willingly. He is only prey to those who have similar attitudes, and preds who take a superior attitude to their prey put him off. To those who do swallow him, his fur tastes strongly of cinnamon. He also occasionally swallows prey who are stranded in Sinnoh's harsh winter storms, keeping them safely inside his warm belly until he can bring them back to civilization.
