This is one of a series of 12 poems written for Alex (Ookami-Kemono)’s birthday, partly because the other gift I’m making is taking so long to get finished (XD) and partly as a nod to the skill and beauty of the works that inspired the poems. Art often breeds art and sometimes we doubt the power of what we do no matter what medium our creativity takes – this is a little project to celebrate the power of that.

This poem Artistic Magic is based on the work of the same name by  o-kemono (found here http://www.furaffinity.net/view/1649513/) I could think of a few other titles for the pieces but thought keeping them the same would be best ^^;

I had fun with these poems, ekphrastic writing (writing from art) is something I’ve got into a lot and have done for some portfolios for my classes. With this series I tried to capture the feelings and message in the pictures I chose (from the characters or not) which was refreshing coming from a poetry class that abhors a lot of talk of abstract concepts and emotional dialogue that are so rich in Alex’s art.
