My mate feeding an owlet that we got in at the raptor center last week. We think its nest was raided, but we aren't sure. It was found on the ground beside a dead sibling. It's only a couple weeks old. We hope it does okay, but we don't know if it will or not yet.
The mask, if anyone is wondering, is used so the owlet doesn't imprint on humans. That's also why there are little plushie owls in the 'nest' with it. If a bird imprints on humans, it will not be able to survive in the wild. It will think it's a human, and may become a threat to people and itself because it will not have a fear of humans that owls normally have.
