The stoat boy is named Maxwell. I haven't thought of a name for the rat yet. I should. These two might be re-occurring.
Maxwell doesn't take compliments well. In fact he doesn't like for anything about him, good or bad, to be too noticeable. After years of being that "weird kid" in school, too geeky to hang out with the weasels and too much of a weasel to hang out with the others, he prefer just go completely unnoticed. He knows his rat friend thinks his eyes are the cutest things, and that only makes him want to hide them more, behind those green frames of his (green is his favorite color, after all). He even tries to wear them in bed but as cute as they are resting on his little brown nose, there are limits, and as a rat born with only black sights, Maxwell's special guy won't accept the weasel trying to hide eyes as adorable as those.
Or something like that.
Don't know if I've settled on either of their color schemes yet but it's digital art, where nothing truly counts, I can always recolor them retroactively if needed.
Also, happy rat everybody, happy rat. Enjoy it. Don't draw many of those.

For the rat he should honestly look more flirtatious although the little curve in his mouth is more subtle than it perhaps should be. It's an old drawing and sometimes I feel like I should redo it as I like the concept and just think it deserves an update. But it's hard for me to redo drawings, feels too derivative.
Though i will say that rats in my world are more reserved so it makes sense that a happier emotion wouldn't be so over the top. But yeah he's meant to look more teasing, like they've been through this before where Maxwell here's trying to hide behind those frames, hence the way he's looking away as they're taken off, since he struggles with eye contact, especially when being complimented on something physical, such as his eyes.
