Just a little silliness. Normally, it should be the highlight of Tani's story arc where he comes back because he won't abandon the people who depend on him, and puts himself in harm's way for Etalyn. End of a long journey. But that would be so predictable. What if he got tripped up and wound up being the one /getting/ bro-tected by his bro? How's that for warm fuzzy feels?
