"A traveller's work is never done,
Especially in foreign lands,
So after the setting of the sun,
I see what coins are in my hands.
I empty my wallet on the bed,
My budget quite clear in my mind;
I see eagle's wings and Lincoln's head -
Oh damn! Some coins rolled off the end!
Getting back up on feet ever sore,
I look down where I'd thought they'd gone,
But there they aren't; they are now no more -
Wait! There's a noise that's going on...
Curiously, under the bed I peer
And I am surprised by the view:
Staring back at me with golden leer,
A little green dragon - who knew?
He clutches my coins possessively;
Fifty cents' the worth of his hoard.
I tell myself: "An excessively
Small price for me, his the reward."
