Rod is one of Avalice's few remaining dragons. A mercenary soldier, he was raised in one of the lands far from the Three Kingdoms, having to tap into lost instincts to survive among the militia that took him from the streets. Rod learned how to fight among the soldiers, doing whatever it took to survive. With the militia's disappearance when he was in his teens, however, he was left with nothing but his skills as a dragon and what training he had.

Being hired by a scientist who needed a test subject was partially out of desperation, but it worked out better for him than expected; to make up for his weaker skills, Rod makes use of many gadgets and tools, including a pair of wings that latch onto his back through the small stumps he keeps on display. These wings give him enough air control to fly as he pleases, and can keep up with his few dragon abilities to let him evade even a skilled Sash Lilac's Dragon Boost.

And speaking of her, Rod has had encounters with the purple dragon before. Although he has no particular ill will towards her, he knows better than to underestimate her simply because she's willing to let him live, especially when their fights are often due to important reasons. Rod tries to avoid betraying his allies if he can avoid it, but if their actions go against his mindset, he's willing to fight for what he actually believes in instead.

Rod has certain patches on his body where a golden glow started to form, such as his neck, chest and hands. Whatever has caused that is something he never shares, no matter what.
