Is a mothman considered "anthro"?
He's a moth... and a man... so I guess it's okay just this once.
A creepy little bit done for a postcard project that I may actually get off my butt and print some day - what says, "Wish you were here" like a harbinger of disaster? :D
- ink and watercolour pencils, coloured pencil

I finished the eyes first - its a bad habit of mine. I can hear my painting teacher saying to "touch all areas of the image and don't focus in too quickly" each time I do it. THESE peepers kept following me around the room. Revenge of my painting teacher perhaps?

He sort of creeps me out a bit, so he lives in the storage box right now. The funny thing is that when I initially drew the rough for this, I didn't want to go too much into the details - I wanted to paint those in later on. The rough literally looked like a muppet! Think of a plushie Mothman.
Now THERE's a scary thought!

At the time, a lot of scientists and skeptics said to the eyewitnesses that what they saw was actually a Sandhill Crane, Barn Owl, Hang-Glider or some other flying thing misidentified by hysteria and/or alcohol. Every single witness denied those claims, even when one desperate skeptic proposed "a surviving Pterodactyl" as a possibility, and even that wild claim got shot down. Plus, there were also claims of UFOs, MIB visitations, crop circles, cattle mutilations and even disturbing poltergeist activity.
Historically, the native Chief Cornstalk, Point Pleasant's original owner before the town itself was built, cursed the land and the settlers who wiped out his people as revenge before he died. Spooky.
There was also a sighting in England the same year and even in Lebanon in 2002. Although, that last one was ambiguous, since it was from the Internet.
