So earlier this year I had this realization that I had gotten much better as an artist than I was 2 years ago, so I decided to redraw some of my Gateworld Races to update them with my new design sentiments. Most of the old races can be found on my dA, but I don't feel like uploading my oldest stuff here on FA. So here are the new stuff.
Lore:
Anyone can become great in the Gateworld. But few trump the eagerness of the Hoblins. Not to be confused with Goblins (who are red-skinned) or Hobgoblins (whatever they are), Hoblins are easily recognizable for their short stature, large eyes and green skin.
Generally speaking, Hoblins are one of the more numerous races in Camboria and can be found in most corners of the Gateworld, similar to the Minos, Luminants and Shan-do. You may find one pretty much anywhere, from the icy wastes of the Plateau to the relaxed settlements of the Sapliniers. Wherever they can smell an opportunity for greatness, be it economical, political, naturological or otherwise, you'll probably find a Hoblin there first. But sincerity and eagerness do not always spell success.
For as much as they want to be great, the inherent traits of the Hoblins usually put them on a short-sighted path. It's far more common to hear about a Hoblin's numerous failures than successes, but that's really only because nothing ever holds them down for too long. If a Hoblin faces failure on one project, she would quickly abandon the project and hop on another one. This has made Hoblins infamous in the Realm as the only true "jacks of all trades, masters of none."
Optimistic and well-liked for their company, very few races in the Gateworld holds the Hoblins in a low regard.
