This is from a kind of obscure old Russian film called Stalker. Most probably know it from the video games it spawned. Its a great movie. Slow-paced but poetic and meditative and beautiful.
"A man writes because he is tormented, because he doubts. He needs to constantly prove to himself and the others that he's worth something. And if I know for sure that I'm a genius? Why write then? What the hell for?"

Mh, great picture, what can I say.
I always loved how Strugatskys' "Roadside Picnic", Tarkovsky's "Stalker" and "S.T.A.L.K.E.R." games, while all sharing the same main ideas, told so very different stories. Most people prefer the adaptations to be as faithful to the source material as possible, but these three variation of one tale can be an example how that's not always the "one and only correct" way.
