Rehabilitation and Introspection
Don Polaraski was a key figure in Dawn Bellwether's rehabilitation. If it wasn't for his efforts to protect her during her stay at Alpine Crag Correctional, she most likely wouldn't have survived. The ex-detective turned prison guard is a fearsome looking figure, with the scars of various scuffles tattoo'ed all over his body. But despite his looks he's a soft hearted mammal who tries to see the potential good in everyone. In retrospect I feel rather bad about how things played out in the story for him, but some times terrible things happen to good mammals.
Dr. Atticus Gnu was another key player in Dawn's recovery. The Water buffalo helped Dawn come to terms with what she had done, and to get passed it. The doctor has been a tireless supporter of prisoner rehabilitation, and offers one day a week for free consultation and evaluation for prisoner's working to better themselves. Of course that's not say he has standard patients, one of which turns out to be Vernon's brother Wade. The good doctor is a caring mammal, who enjoys witty banter with his patients, and has a genuine interest in hearing the stories that lead to a mammal becoming who they are.
This is the last character profile sheet I'm doing. Your probably wondering where Vernon's folks and brother is, well I'll do character profiles for them when I get to 'A Lamb Among Wolves', a semi sequel that takes place between the six month period between chapter 27 and 28 of 'The Rehabilitation of Dawn Bellwether.'. That's going to have pretty much all of Vernon's Family in it.
I'll be keeping my writing and SFW content updated on a brand new Tumblr I launched called "Wasted Time's Talk Box". There you can ask me questions about me, my writing, and etc. As well as see clean sketches that don't make it to FA, and previews/samples of writing. Link below.

New story? That sounds interesting!
Don Polaraski reminds me of both Baloo from "The Jungle Book" and Pacha from "The Emperor's New Groove": caring, soft-hearted, but serious when it's necessary.
It was really sad to hear about his death and I wanted Aster and his accomplices to have the punishment they deserved.
Well, dying surrounded by Night Howler gas and being reduced to a rabid mammal is not a nice death, but these were the ideas I had in mind:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qb5Z8E0MoLY from 7:53 on;
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZtMvwaepuJE and
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=M4Bv9Cs6dls
I know that these scenes wouldn't work in a world as realistic as Zootopia (as realistic as a world populated by anthropomorphic animals can be...)
As far as Don Polaraski and Dr. Atticus Gnu are concerned, I would choose either Joel McCrary (Baloo's current official voice actor) or John Goodman (who coincidentally voiced Baloo in "The Jungle Book 2"... like they say: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CbIhYhrOJAg) for the police officer and maybe Héctor Elizondo for the doctor.
What are your choices?

I feel that Aster pretty much got his just desserts in the ending of the story. The only way it could have been more poetically just is if Clover was the one to have to kill him. But being reduced to nothing more than an violent and mindless animal I thought was a pretty good way to go. And yeah, those kind of defeats like what you posted are sort of over the top for my writing tastes.
I didn't even think of John Goodman, but he would be a perfect voice for Don. As for the Doctor I had no real voices in mind, aside from something sounding somewhat aged and professional. Hector could be a good choice, but honestly I don't think I've ever heard one of his roles so i can't say for certain.
