I do need to work on the difference between these two for intermediate sizes. Puffier arms for BW might have made him look more inflated. I also need to figure out double-chins n..n.

I think you shrunk because your head is smaller than theirs! Either way, at least your comfortable.
I do agree, that your fat folk look more inflated than fat. I know a couple of artists who know how to do a double chin as well as make flabby joints. You could let the knees and elbows be a bit visible with a small bit of flab hanging over them for the chubby ones. You could add a few key differences that will differ inflated folk from fat folk. Try letting the fat hang a bit low and let it flab a bit.
