Well, here's something I never thought I'd see myself doing. But hey, you know the old saying; "First time for everything". So without further delay, I give to you my take on Volk, (which is Russian for "wolf"), the wolf from the Russian cartoon known as Nu Pogodi. Now for those of you who have never heard of such a show (and I don't blame you because I don't know how many people besides myself know about it), "Nu Pogodi" was an animated series created by Felix Kandel and Arkadi Khait. The title "Nu Pogodi" (Ну, погоди!) is Russian that roughly translates as "Well! Just you wait!" or something like that. And the show first debuted in 1969, the same year when Scooby Doo first hit the scene. And the series focuses on a mischievous wolf who is constantly chasing after a rabbit named "Zayats" (which is Russian for "Hare"). Think of it as Russia's answer to Tom and Jerry or the Wile E. Coyote and Road Runner cartoons. Yeah, its basically that sort of show. In the cartoon, the characters don't have many lines of dialogue. But there are at least a few lines here and there. The series consists mainly of slap-stick humor (like in most cartoons at the time). And the wolf's one repeating word of dialogue that he constantly utters is "Nu! Pogodi" (Well! Just you wait!). But sometimes he'll say "Nu, Zayats! Pogodi!" (Well, Hare! Just you wait!). The show ran on Russian television from the late 60s all the way through the 1970s, 1980s, 1990s, and the early to mid 2000s. There are a total of 20 episodes in the series, with the last one being made in 2006. For those of you who are wondering what we're saying; the wolf is saying to me "Well, Matthew! Just you wait!" And I'm replying back to him saying "And I'll be waiting for you."
