Probes into the near to distant future uncover startling new discoveries concerning the human life and death cycle. Data suggests that human life is nothing but a complicated larval process designed as a launching point for far stranger life. Upon brain death, the person's life force is used to give "birth" to their own fingers. The fingers detach, unfurl their bat-esque fingers, and take to the sky.This would be page... twelve of the Surrealis Grimoire project. And yes. Those are disembodied, bat-winged fingers.
