Social programs and charities are not the same thing. They are programs that the tax-payers have alloted to go to these benefits. And with no regard to them, Trump is trying to cut the shit out of them. And if you think for a second that "charity" is going to make up for it, ask yourself why charity hasn't already solved the homelessness problem, supplied us healthcare, or fixed really any problem except for a nominal amount. It's because charity is not required. If given the option, those who can pay in and make a real difference will not give anything to charity beyond what's required to benefit them in PR or from government tax breaks.

Of course you're right that the insurance proposal is bad, and that it will not pass, because no one is stupid enough to go for it now.
But the very fact that his administration even ATTEMPTED IT is the damn problem. You wanna pretend they care about the US when they try this shit? What do you think is going to happen?
