An L.A.V has a squad of infantry that rides with it for just such an occasion. One squad would provide perimeter security and one squad would investigate. The gunner would stay with the vehicle eyes and gun pointed in direction of greatest expected threat. The unit CO would stay with vehicle. The medic/corpsman would stay with vehicle. If traps are found or suspected the sight would be marked for Explosive Ordinance Disposal.

Thanks. I appreciate your help on the subject. It's one thing to know the vehicle inside and out, but it's another thing to know how it's used properly.
