And the President has complete freedom to act unilaterally on trade deals, without any approval from Congress or the Supreme Court.
Factor in Trump's volatile loose-cannon temperament, and that kind of unlimited power, and he could make a whopping big mess in a matter of hours. He could provoke a war on his very first day... if not a shooting one, certainly an economic one.
Trump as President is like giving a toddler a vial of nitroglycerine to play with. There's so may ways the weight of the job could blow up in his face, especially if he cracked under the immense pressure... and it's the American people and the world that would suffer the consequences. For the sake of everyone, he had better mature quickly and get his shit together.

And yet Republicans still think he was a good choice. I have seen the 100-day action plan he laid out.
I've heard of his plans on limiting term times in the Congress, bans against lobbyists, he wants to shut the Congress up and not work with the Reps and the Senate.
He knows very well that his own government wouldn't cooperate with the madness he is about to unleash.

About 80 years ago, someone in Europe rose to national leadership by fomenting hate, appealing to fear, making big but vague promises, encouraging deep political divisions, and scapegoating the country's problems on several high-visibility minorities... in the name of nationalism and prosperity.
Nowadays, all people remember is the results of that fiasco... not how it got started. Concern is warranted...

Not being particularly in the know, 'bout all things 'Wall Street/Economics: 101' (hey, blue-collar slave,,, uh, I mean, 'Worker'! yeah... worker...), a few things I have come to know-
1)Govt. is not to be trusted. Period.
2)Wall Street is not to be trusted. Period.
3)The higher UP the political ladder, the more BS is involved. I think any and all adults realize that. By the time anyone reaches the level of President (or presidential-hopeful), they're standing on a Mt. Everest of BS, in some form or many others.
I think what truly worries me, is just HOW blatantly bad Trump is as a mere person. Sure he's rich. Does that mean he has the public's interest(s) at heart? Somehow, I don't think so. His behavior (and I'll be honest here, I'm not a fan of Hillary either), is so abhorrent to any rational thinking person, that I honestly believed he was getting his script from the people who write for Jerry Springer.
One after another, then another incident/tirade/comment, each one adding still more angst and ridiculousness atop the prior. I thought at the end he was literally running to make a mockery of the entire affair.
Then he got elected.
::Throws-up hooves,,, uh,, hands,,, in utter disgust...::
Canada is looking SO very tempting...

Or not, because Executive Orders aren't some kind of dictatorial system by which a president can do whatever the hell they please, Out very simply, all an executive order does is to tell all governmental systems to follow X rule in Y way. It doesn't create a new rule, it merely changes how said rule is enforced, within the limitations of the law and constitution.
In theory, perhaps.
But in practice, they can be used for a whole heck of a lot of dictatorial actions, and are only rarely challenged or nullified by the Supreme Court. They can, and have, been used to declare martial law, imprison whole populations of minorities & suspend their citizen's rights, pick & choose which laws will be enforced, create and destroy government agencies, and even wage war without the approval of Congress.
And they can certainly be used to create new laws or warp existing ones in a specific way. Unless the Supreme Court strikes it down, an Executive Order usually stands unopposed. Since a Congressional override of an Executive Order requires a supermajority 2/3rds vote, and such a vote could be political suicide, it's a given that Congress will never directly try to override the President's orders; the best they can do is launch a lawsuit, or deny funding, or pass their own laws that contradict the Executive Order.

The electoral college keeps elections from being dominated by dense population alone.
The rural life, the suburban life, and the urban life all have different needs, are all important to this nation, and are all represented by the electoral college.
Like others have said before, it keeps them the President of the United States and not just the President of California.
