Hard to say. I'm old enough that I've watched this happen a few times. America tends to flip-flop back and forth between Republican and Democrat rule, yet this was an instance where the Republican choice was clearly a horrible one for a list of many, many obvious reasons. Yet... the problem was that the other choices were almost as bad. For once, the choices were so bad that it seems like Trump won on the basis of being a protest vote against government. So... how will it work out? Well, dunno - but the president is not a monarchy in which Trump has dictator-ship like power. How the government acts must still proceed according to law and process, and under that process things don't happy spur-of-the-moment.

A president who is too dangerous can be removed from power, if it comes to that. You're a nation of good people, even if you don't always agree on things. *squeezes you gently in a hug* You will be fine - I mean come on, there are people like YOU there to make sure of that.

I think that... or, maybe I fear that, there will be a direct link that forms from the president to the people, one founded on charisma and emotion, and not any ordained or legal or constitutional foundation. Basically meaning, the president will be able to short-circuit the entire government, and directly sway the people to do a n y t h i n g h e w a n t s . Which if the people ask to be able to eliminate anyone they want, he will permit it. Or directly order the people to do so.

I hope I'm wrong. you know... I just.. like, I don't care about America the people or the government. I actually only care about 2 things: the humans living on the land that is designated America, and the environment/land and seas that are designated America. Everything else? No allegiance. It's just a lot of land that a lot of humans live on in a very stupid way. So I don't care about what party or who rules or whatever the hell. I just want to live with other humans without us killing and hurting each other. That's it. I... *spins, goes in circles, starts feeling helpless again*
