As some of you may know,
keeya's cat passed away recently.
I've been meaning to message him and talk to him, telling him how sorry I am to hear that... but it felt sort of pointless, not only am i sure that he has already had several people tell him "I'm sorry for your loss", but I also know from experience that no amount of "I'm sorry" could ever be enough to ease the pain you feel from loosing a pet that you loved.
Then recently, I was reminded of a poem i found not long after my own pet (my budgie, also depicted in this picture) had passed away, and even though it made my eyes tear up, it made me feel slightly better, knowing that he had gone to a better place. And i hope it will do the same for Keeya.
The poem goes as follows:
Just this side of heaven is a place called Rainbow Bridge.
When an animal dies that has been especially close
to someone here, that pet goes to Rainbow Bridge.
There are meadows and hills for all of our special friends
so they can run and play together.
There is plenty of food, water and sunshine,
and our friends are warm and comfortable.
All the animals who had been ill and old are restored to health and vigor;
those who were hurt or maimed are made whole and strong again,
just as we remember them in our dreams of days and times gone by.
The animals are happy and content,
except for one small thing;
they each miss someone very special to them, who had to be left behind.
They all run and play together,
but the day comes when one suddenly stops and looks into the distance.
His bright eyes are intent; His eager body quivers.
Suddenly he begins to run from the group,
flying over the green grass, his legs carrying him faster and faster.
You have been spotted,
and when you and your special friend finally meet,
you cling together in joyous reunion, never to be parted again.
The happy kisses rain upon your face; your hands again caress the beloved head,
and you look once more into the trusting eyes of your pet,
so long gone from your life but never absent from your heart.
Then you cross Rainbow Bridge together....
This is what inspired me to draw this, since it popped into my head at the same time as the memory of the poem.
As you might have guessed, the pic depicts Keeya's cat, Mickey, and my budgie, Chicko, waiting together at Rainbow Bridge.
I am well aware that it looks like a child's drawing, but sadly its all i can do, and if not the image, then hopefully the poem can help to soothe the pain he feels from the loss.
So Keeya, I know that my words will probably not matter, but I want you to know that I'm sorry for what has happened to you and that I too, feel sad over the loss of Mickey.
He is in a better place now, and I'm sure that one day you will meet him again.
