Belated thing for  Rovanoak had meant to finish awhile back

The Brewster F2A Buffalo was designed as a carrier borne fighter for the US Navy. While it might have been a decent pre-war design, it was hopelessly outclassed even before the second world war began. Buffalos were hacked to pieces by the Japanese across the pacific. US Navy and Marines, RAF, and NL all suffered huge losses with the type. It was rapidly withdrawn from service in those theaters. The only service that had any success with the type was the Finnish Air Force against the Soviets. In its service from 41 to 45, the Finnish Buffalos shot down 477 Soviet aircraft for the loss of only 19 Buffalos, a 26:1 kill/loss ratio.
