I watched Ben 10 when I was appropriately 10 but after the original series ended I fell out of it. I decided to re-watch the whole series just before school and I never knew about the Omniverse series. Unapologetically it's my favourite of the series, its energetic and has my favourite villains in it.
And now with the Reboot why not do some art?
One villain has the whole "big game hunter/predator" shtick with an alien hunting dog and everything. So I made breed variants based on earth hunting dog groups. Because I love her and I'm a nerd who puts way to much effort into things. The original breed is called an Anubian Baskurr, so I kept with the Egyptian God theming.
Baskurrs are a non-sapient alien species from Anur Khufos. Baskurrs are a strange mix of canine and reptile. Having very dog-like mentalities and fill a similar evolutionary niche but reptilian physiology and metabolism. Notably being able to go weeks without food, females being larger than males and laying eggs. They have a along breeding history as hunting dogs and are divided into four subspecies.
Kheprian Baskurr:
Kheprians have the most average built of the Baskurr breeds. Being the average they stand at 56 inches at the shoulder Their signature feature is the large drooping frill around their necks. When relaxed it is used to collect scent particles near the face; coupled with their advance sense of smell they are the best trackers. When they locate their prey the frill flexes in excitement, opening fully when prey is cornered. Kheprians are slow but have great endurance and are the best trackers.
Kheprians are very mellow temperaments, but can be startled easily.
Mafdetan Baskurr:
Mafdetans are a small and wiry breed used to hunt underground prey and vermin. The smallest Baskurr breed they stand 28 inches at the shoulder. Their snouts are long and narrow with upturned noses to help navigate tunnels. With short, stout legs and tough claws for digging Mafdetans are bred for small game.
Strong willed and curious Mafdetans can and will get into everything.
Osirian Baskurr:
Osirians are tall and elegant breeds used to chase down prey. The tallest Baskurr standing at a wooping 80 inches at the shoulder. Their long legs and flexible back allow them to run at astonishing speeds. Their large head crests are light and soft, with bright patterns. With the common use of vehicles with galaxtic hunting Osirians have become more of a show bred.
They are a proud breed which carry their heads high. Osirians are high maintenance and dainty breed. One of those dogs that think they're better than you, and they're right.
Sekhmetan Baskurr:
Sekhmetans are the most muscular breed but are the second shortest, shoulders at 44 inches. They have thick armoured scales and strong jaws for overpowering big game. Despite their bulking appearance they are surprisingly good swimmers.
Sekhmetans are standoffish breeds but once they trust someone they are highly affectionate. They make excellent guard dogs.
