Ok so isn't exactly a fire truck, but it still has a neat story.

I went to a local off road shop, that a friend owns, to schedule my truck for a Fluid-Film appointment.
I get there and my buddy, has big ol' smile on his muzzle, and tells me I'd love his newest project vehicle. So I go out back and I see this gem.

It's an early 80's Ford E-350 4wd ambulance, that spent it's entire career with the City of Portland Maine on Peaks Island in Casco Bay. This thing doesn't even have 8000.00 miles on it and its very clean, considering it spent its whole life around salt water.

Now for the funny part, My buddy's shop is about 15 minutes from the ferry terminal that serves Peaks Island, but he had to drive to a scrap yard about 4 hours away near the Canadian border to get this thing. The plan right now is to turn this gem into a camper for those times he wants to go deep into the woods of Northern Maine, and bring some comfort along with him.

In case your wondering MEDCU stands for Medical Emergency Crisis Unit. From it's creation until 1996, it was a standalone EMS Dept. In 1996, it was folded into the Portland FD as the EMS division and Engine CO's began responding on medical calls along with the ambulances.
