Very well done. ::sniff:: D: I had this ominous feeling from the first page (like something had to go wrong somewhere) and it did... D:
holy shit.
either way the other kid's reactions and confusion are what's important
Hits close to home. Very nice dude.
(naw, I like it, good job.)
thanks man!
You did an amazing job at portraying the feelings and emotion. (I also like how you hold off to submit em till its completed, so someone isn't left hanging for a few days to see the next strip!)
:) Keep up the awesome work man!
I'm not sure if Jerry is ok or not! It's up to the viewer, i suppose. :3
*duck*
Great comic, this brought up strong emotions and is very well drawn.
i'm feeling sorrow...
Thanks!
"why would ad do a comic so cute and fluffy? It HAS to get twisted somewhere"
Then I was like "Oh here it is."
*looney_tunes_ending_theme.wav*
reminded me of stuff.. growing up on an air base in germany.. :(
I have to comment on your suberb story-telling. I have to ask for more and more till I feel... really... really sad...
Keep it up man! Peace. Seregei
Interesting to see some non-adult characters from you.
Well, I do remember a kid from a recent drawing of yours, that also involved a priest... but I digress.
Nice work, yet again!
and let's never discuss the priest picture again hahahah
Thanks dude!
...
Now draw one involving the Pope. :D
I mean, it was just.... a roll down the hill <_<;;;
...... *sniffs* I wanna call all of my friends now....
Thanks man!!
anyhow, thanks a lot man!!
what do you suggest i persue, storywise? i'm always open to exploring new avenues!
Its simple, accidental, tragedy. Something that happens everyday, every hour, every second even. Sometimes folks encouter it, others go their entire lives without something like this happening. Sometimes its just a broken toy, other times its...well, a friend/family member. This particular case hits home b/c it reminds me of my own sister's death, which happened just as suddenly n' out of the blue.
Kudos to you, artdecade. More moving of a piece/series than I think you realize.
these were fun to make, i forgot about them
wow the art is terrible though
i hope that the reactions of the children weren't terribly predictable
But this is great work, it had so many aspects I thought about and I appreciate this.
I dunno dude.
I don't think this was the "same angsty crap" that "furries always come up with."
I really liked it, especially when I realized it was about how kids deal with the unknown... The language especially -- I loved how you showed the simple mechanic children have to speech and perception (they aren't all geniuses or midget adults).
Incidentally, I didn't think the kid died. I thought he was just knocked out... I like how everyone rushed to the immediate conclusion though: "OHNOES!111 SOBSOBSOBSOB!1"
This felt like a piece I'd find published by ONI or Fantagraphics. So, don't let that one dude get on your case. Typical furry drama BS is some guy who's totally homo but his parent's pet gerbil is a right winger militia nazi and someone has aids and everyone has butt sex.
i want to do a pin-up for the eventual collected release of all this shaz.
"Joking to try not to tear up" aside, I love these emotional trips into the depths of strange occurences in life.
You could quite seriously make a career out of this shit (or could one say that you do already...?). The simplicity of the setting, the negative space, the dramatic, pulp fiction dotty shading (i'm sure there's a technical term for it, but fuck that shit i'm all sad and shit), all of it created this whole... i dunno, trying not to use a clichéd word like "atmosphere", but the overall feel of it aesthetically didn't necessarily accentuate the mood of the over all comic, but rather... i dunno, accompanied it seamlessly i suppose. the art was second to the story, not in quality, but in noticeability - and i really miss old anthology comics of yore that used that formula rather than intricate masterpieces that, oh yeah, have text bubbles. Anywho, ramblerambleramble fantastic work as always, dude.
grat work, it is clean and simple , enough for me for a short comic story.
I guess we all have as kids felt the fear and desperation when something went wrong, and the grown up misunderstands it. A happy day can quickly transform to a day full of demonic fear.
Excellent work. The comic really woke up those fealings I had as a kid.
playing with crop is fun
but anyways ,i enjoyed this, keep them coming dad! X3
but i have to figure out a way to present it that isn't terrible!!
my next comic is 'american history xxx' and it wicked gay yiffy
i hope that the more important part of the story is the children's reactions to the event
awesome, thanks
I can't tell if he's dead or not....
These comics are amazing!! I didn't expect you to make another 12 page on so fast! MAN such awesome work! I mean the art is great on every page, just quickly done but you worked a story out.
I'll fav the first page representing the entire comic!
Good job with the kids anfd their expressions, showing their playfulness and wide-eyed exhuberence at first, then their sadness and confusion at the end. Damn the kids were really cute playing in the beginning, then it was hearbreaking aftewards.
The dropped hat, like the spilled life savers in the first story, is an obvious metaphor, but effective.
thank god over the years of trying to be the strong one for my friends and family i forgot how to cry!
But that still made me so sad!
Omg....now I'm worried for poor Jerry. =(
This is a really awesome comic, dude. =D
I'm actually waiting to see your next story now.
This is a very unique change to see on this site.
Kudos to ye for this. :3
-Jiry
Cery well done, emotive and realistic, even if the kid is dead or not, quite an emotive comic.
You rock, my dear sir :)
.....Great job! That was awesome!
Pulled off the emotion nicely, I almost cried x3
you r0x
You can normaly tell something bad is supposed to happen based on the scenerey. Also if there is no apparent conflict somethings bound to come up. So it just incites anticipation on the reader because they want to know what the problem is in the story.
Really well done though. Amaizing you did it all in only three days. X3 I'm lucky to do 1 picture a day. X3
i like how you tell stories but i don't like much the last 5 panels, there's something with storytelling that does not works. but my opinions are always wrong, so...
=)
much envy for you!
I liked this one, even though I found it a bit predicatble somehow. Knowing your tastes, I pretty much expected this to happen. Mind you, that didn't take away from the heartachey bit where Sean is yelling at Jerry. Very poingiant!
Snow is easy to draw, huh? :P
the snow angel took me forever!
thanks man :3
backgrounds can be so brutal
and then you have to deal with how little space is in each panel, and how the panels interact, and how they are layed out etc
it's more work than people think sometimes!!
nice job again AD.
it is interesting that you assume he is dead :3
o.O
Nice comic! ^_^
I like how it was pretty obvious that something was bad to happen, but what happened was something we didnt expect, I assumed the main kid would be the one to get injured or something worse, but instead out of the blue his friend gets knocked out!(Or could be comatose, or dead) Then of course the reaction of the kids, not knowing how to handle the situation and thinking the wors ebecause their friend didnt get up immediatly. You handled their emotions pretty damn well, just what I'd expect from kids their age.
I can't wait to see another one from ya! BTW how the hell did you get manga studio to install? @_@ I failed so many times...
i heard somewhere for manga studio
you have to use some imaging software, and if that doesn't work then ????
nah, it's awesome
the situation would be happened to everychild, found they friend uncoinciousness, and they runs to their home. Poor bear, he will found nobody there when he wake up.
Theres a lot of emotional moment on this comic, Awesome.
But once again, why must Bear??
heh i dunno, it just happened that way :3
Oh wait! *sob*
Seriously, it's all been said, but good work on the expressions and reactions of the characters, and the very minimalist setting for the backgrounds. Not only does it match the tone of the story and the temperature of the day, but it helps the reader really focus on the characters themselves, not a lot of cluttered extraneous detail ....
That's all what I can say... O.O
takes me back to reading things
like 'All Summer in a Day' type
short stories.
not from me tho. This lizard likes his cloacas occupied. >..>;;
On the comic, tho, its cute.... and sad, but he aint dead. Unless he gets hypothermia.
I'M TELLING ON YOU
or can i just kick you in the balls and we can call it even
THESES DRAMAS ARE QUITE FUN, KEEP THEM UP, cause they are better.cooler then 99% of the furry comics out there.
PS this death theme rocks cause death is cool like that...same with the endings..cause they dont give you a sense of wholeness .
skizYEAH!!
It's a given though that the wolf kid told his mom and brought back help. Wolves are cool like that. ^^
Great work though, yeah. :D
innocence is so terrible
Hope the little tyke is ok,
I really didn't see it coming.
Your short stories are amazingly cool though! Such cool messages with so little dialouge
I aprove!
youre so evil :P
.....I need a hug. ... v_v
Goddamn good job.
*crawls slowly into his rabbit hole and closes the lid...*
or not
Bear: *stands up and dusts some snow off*
Hm....? where'd everyone go... and why does my head hurt? oh well. Mom! I want some soup! ^.^
...And, why am I naked?"
Very sad, but good storytelling.
so thanks!!
i appreciate it!
So envoking this type of reaction from me I thank you and think its great!
hope they do as well once i stop giving them out for free hahahaa
All in all, a good story, and nicely drawn.
Keep it up !
On a side note, I have to say that I already lived a situation like that one. We were lucky to have adults around to help us then.
what the fuck when i started seeing the kids having fun i was like "god i want them to die or something"
and one of them did and i just about squealed mid giggles
i have heard all four now
I actually want you to draw more non-porn in the future, but please don't think less of my libido for it.
see i'm a libra so i'm obsessed with balance....
I have to say this is an outstanding short story you created there. You did an incredbile job with those clear pictures, I can't remember when I last saw someone using so few textures and shadows and still get such an amazing result.
As for the content...well. Depressing. Sad. But I suppose that's just what you wanted to create with that. And listening to depressive french music doesn't help either *snickers*
+fav in place for all 12 pages. Hope you'll be finding someone to publish this stuff soon, I'm sure it would sell like crazy.
You did a great job with the artwork itself too. *bows*
You definitely conveyed the emotions and also the kid's behaviours.
I think the boys just grew up a little.
seriously man. awesome work.
hope to see more comics from you.
Good work, man, keep ot up. B3
Anyway, this was incredible. It truly did capture the sense of a small, frightened child..
I just remembered my past.
x.x something like this, xcept my friend fell from the cliffside down to the river. All coz of stupid me getting too careless x.x *sob*
its very melancholic
but this really captured my emotion at that time
Arrggh... my eyes are getting blurry...
Awesome wrok
these short stories are fun to, i plan to do more in the future but they go so slow cuz i have to focus on making dough (porno!). not that i mind, though, honestly :3
Porno is the only reason the internet exists till today
--
rrgh, my eyes get teary when I see this page again
might call up my friend to have a chat with him XD
Besides that, the innocence of the three children is wonderfully shown, through dialog, and their actions. For some reason I really characters that are young males (that sounds wrong, but eh, whatever), so I guess I could relate to this a lot because of that. The fact that they grew and learned about something and it scared them... uhg I can't describe how nice it was to read/look at this story.
Keep creating, man! You're an inspiration.
i would love to do more stories like this, but i have to pay attention my expenses :|
i did manage to get issue 2 done (this comic is from issue 1, I do a comic called Small Stories that this is from) but it's not out yet :0 it has another story about young boys :]
You are so good.
today I wrote something that could be a comic, I'm thinking of three pages so far.
If I do it, I would like your opinion about story telling ! :)
yeh i do clean work when i can. though i don't mind drawing dirty work either! :3
ya i like to write depressing stories... maybe this is why my comics have not sold well, hahaa
But really...that cannot be the ending. The thought that kid is gonna wake up alone, or slowly die of hypothermia while everyone has no idea. It's like a childhood nightmare, those three kids (two if the injured one doesn't survive) will be forever changed and won't ever be able to forget this day. It's deliciously painful and memorable. And that shot of him leaving his hat behind in distress is poignant. To me it feels like the hat is like the innocence he's leaving behind because he just glimpsed some of the darker and more adult sides to life and he's having to grow up because of it.
And although I like the ambiguity of not knowing if he's alive or dead... having them go back to their lives and leave him to be found hours later by chance is just too harsh. It distracts and almost makes it about a different kind of hurt entirely. That's the only thing I'd change, just adding a hint in the end that he'll tell his mom, and that she'll get the injured kid help. Even if it leads to a funeral because he really is dead. It just would sort of cinch the themes of innocence vs the random and harshness of life sometimes. Idk, I actually secretly loved this. The tragedy + the innocence + the age-appropriate reactions just makes it almost classic. And haunting in it's simplicity. I loved it. It made me cry too.
i did intentionally leave a lot unsaid at the end to sort of give it a sort of tension and a lack of closure. i wanted the viewer to have mixed feelings, upset at the child for not being forthcoming, but also sympathetic becuase, like you said, they really just don't understand what's happening.
but he does say that he's going to 'tell on him', and it's within the realm of reason to assume that at least one of the boys, but probably both of them, do tell their parents what happened. so that's another reason i left it off where it does.
thank you again for the response and for reading!
