Well, it's official. Gained 12.11" today; from here on out, I'm growing an entire foot every single day, and it's only going to get faster. Some of the aides insist that they can practically see it happening throughout the day; I'm not sure I'd go that far yet, but at this rate it's just a matter of time. As usual, there's some concern that I'm just not going to stop, though we've gotten pretty good at keeping up with my body's steadily increasing demands. I'm not even going to write it down in case I'm wrong, but I'm pretty sure that there are a couple of things I can do if it ever starts looking like I'm getting too big. If that's even possible, that is. I'm still enjoying the ride as much as I ever have, and I certainly can't deny I get a little thrill every time these little milestones come up.
Finalized a deal with a national coffee chain this afternoon. We'd drafted some tentative plans months ago, before this all started, though nothing anywhere near this grand. Tomorrow they're going to send some contractors to the offices we're building, and we'll be working out co-branding details over the next few weeks. It was a complete delight to go back over the older contracts, and finding little details here and there that meant nothing at the time, only to see them be major components of the contract now. My favorite was the original article that promised me an "endless supply" of coffee for my own personal consumption. It was supposed to be a cute little byline for the advertisements, getting to claim that I was so particular that I was only willing to drink their brand. Now that my morning cup is around two hundred gallons, it's more a matter of raw practicality. I'm pretty sure that they're still getting the better end of the deal, even if I have to admit the promise of having my precious morning ritual back with wonderful, fresh coffee, in sufficient quantities to still be hot for a couple seconds on my tongue, is worth a lot more than I care to admit. We even have a rider that requires them to provide suitable glasses, mugs, and cups, instead of having to drink out of converted fuel tankers and the like. Despite all the work that goes into my wardrobe, there's something subtly touching about seeing some of their prototype attempts, watching them trying so hard to keep up with what I am and what I'm becoming. Really looking forward to having a bunch of these on display together. Grande, Venti, Mejeri...
This was first commissioned back before the entire sequence that turned Balina Mejeri into a one-woman dairy, when I was planning on a much more disjointed collection of art. The approach floundered due to the lack of structure, and the details and scale on this picture had to be hastily adjusted at one point when it became clear she was going to end up larger than her originally intended ~75' height. One thing led to another, and eventually the decision was made to make the Rabid comic the main sequence all by itself, with all other pending art being fitted in as little interstitial things after the fact. This picture fell through the cracks in the aftermath of the big spree last year, though I'm glad to be posting it now.
As an aside, I spent a goodly amount of time trying to figure out if I could get away with saying she was ~70' tall in this picture, only to go back through my notes and realize that these lines were made with the intention that she was about 60' tall. Strype is awful good at scale, especially for someone who doesn't typically do macro art.
