Hats.
They're a thing in Skylanders.
Uh....why are they a thing in Skylanders again? I'm not knocking loot, I'm just wondering. Does armor not exist? Is fashion very important in the Skylanders universe? Was there a mythical tailor of legend who crafted magical hats that bestowed upon you such blesses as speed through the ears of a rabbit?
Well, whatever and why they are, for the uninitiated, Hats are wearable items in the Skylanders 'verse that bestow stat increases. As....far as I know, that's the only thing (or at least the main thing) that does give an enhancement. On the basis, it increases things like armor, criticals, speed, and elemental power. How they do...? I dunno, is that ever explained?
They range from viking helemts to the ears of a rabbit. Sometimes they can even overtake a character in some ways (take a look at one of the mini-guides to see Cynder complete covered by one of the hats in the original game.
I guess there's some sense to it...Activision can't pony up the dough to have custom armor sets for all of their Skylanders...so just make something that can "boop", go on their head. I'm really tempted to bet that there's surely some clipping issues that happen with some Skylanders hehehe.
Anyway, OG Spyro seems to be managing his anger issues over being shelved by the Skylanders series by...well...yeah...messing around. Apparently he got together with Moneybags to set up a treasure chest "trap" for his counterpart (Given the stuff Moneybags deals in, and the fact he seems....magic-capable with gems from what I recall).
It was weird to hear they worked together, but I guess they sorta did later on...though mostly as far as a hero-merchant relationship goes anyway.
But maybe it's also because Moneybags is a bit annoyed that he TOO got shelved by Skylanders. I suppose that's another thing OG Spyro supporters may be upset about. Series characters such as Moneybags and Hunter were pulled off. Sure, they came in Riptos Rage, but even full timer Sparx was pulled as well.
So yeah, Moneybags may be "a different sort of "bag" ", but at least he's ready to support another....for the right price....be it gems or personal satisfaction...
Apparently Spryo thought of a NEW hat that fits quite comfortably on Skylander Spyro's head (boy is he clueless, and I guess nobody told him till he got back to the Academy). I don't know what the stat changes are for it...but I...guess it's not as weird as some of the other hats they've got....is it? No....no it probably isn't....
I'm still watching the first episode (technically two), but the beginning surprised me. Ready for a spoiler? I don't know if our Spyro pitched this idea to the writers or if this was something that actually happened...but hey, it's Skylander canon now I guess.

Ok, so we get ourselves an opening with Skylander Spyro's apparent "origin", with an egg hatching. What's ironic to me, is that Spyro was apparently BORN with a diaper taped to his rump ha! Unexpected, usually toons don't go that way, but guess that kind of explains a lot huh? Either that or real Spyro pitched something in the script read to be added in, with the writers wondering why he was wearing one at present.
And.....apparently no tail too....just born, I know, but that seems kind of a slip. (either that or the diaper was more important than anatomy heh)

Yeah, the Hats could be cool (They had lots of cool Military hats) or Silly (such as the Antlers I put on Cynder for a while and then took them off because they looked ridiculous).
I plan on watching Skylanders Academy. I don't expect too much, but I'll watch it anyway due to my immense Loyalty to the Purple Dragon.

Haven't played the games just yet, but did pick up a guide for like a buck (technically it was service drone, but whatever), and saw the list of hats...so yeah it varies.
Don't get Netflix myself, but have luck some fans will be gracious enough to show copies on streaming sites or Youtube. So far, it's not too bad (though I'm dealing with a lack of quality since the video is new, lots of unfortunate choppyness), but the beginning gave me a MUCH needed laugh for obvious surprising reasons, so I'm going to give it some benefit

Sorry no stat increases with this hat only endless embarrassment. This reminds me of that new year's eve party pic where Spyro got drunk and ended up wearing a diaper on his head. Another good idea for a prank would be for Spyro to hide one of his wrapped up dirty diapers in Skylander Spyro's room to stink up the place, like a stink bomb but way worse. I can just picture him eventually finding it and being all grossed out and trying to throw it away without touching it with his claws. That would really teach him.
Speaking of the show if we're lucky this isn't the last time we'll see skylander spyro wearing a diaper as there might be a regression episode where Spyro gets turned back into a baby. Also thanks for telling me about he hatching with a diaper already on as I'll definitely watch that part. As for watching the rest of the show I dunno, I might if I find myself with nothing else to do.
