Absalom Stoneburner was an ordinary devout under one of the Dragon Empire's many nameless gods--the one he gave his faith to had dominion over the power of life and death. After caught in a tragic accident, Absalom found himself bargaining with death itself.

Death gave him a bargain--it would return Absalom to the realm of the living once more, and in exchange, Absalom would have to carry out its dirty work up there, where he would claim the title of "The Warden". As a part time psychopomp and reaper, his duties vary from guiding souls to their final resting place to cutting the fragile thread of those who futilely cling to life.

Despite his serious demeanor, he's still very new to the whole "part-time reaper" thing, and oftentimes he consults a small notebook that contains the full text to the last rites he often needs to say. One day he'll get them.

So here's a dude that I'm planning on using for an RPG system called 13th Age. As a Necromancer/Cleric, the Warden has been gifted a small amount of the power his god controls, allowing him to provide succor and aid to his allies or death destruction upon his foes. And the favor he has with his god allows him to cheat death, extending the same benefits to those near to him.

13th Age itself is a pretty neato system if you're looking for something in the same boat as Dungeons and Dragons, but with a more "indie" spin to it.
