#6: Phantump & Trevenant
"According to old tales, these Pokémon are stumps possessed by the spirits of children who died while lost in the forest. They prefer to live in abandoned forests"
"Using its roots as a nervous system, it can control the trees in the forest at will. It's kind to the Pokémon that reside in its body, but ensnares anyone or anything that brings harm to the forest; trapping them forever so that they may never leave"
Phantump and Trevenant are two Pokemon I fell in love with right away when I first saw them, more so Trevenant. Phantump is just undeniably adorable, so I couldn't not add it in. But yes, to say I was happy with the new selection of Ghost-types when X/Y rolled around was an understatement. Both of the new ghost families brought in quickly became top favorites of mine. (I realize saying this easily gave away another addition to this countdown, but honestly if you didn't see it coming then you're an idiot) While it's true that tree based Pokemon are nothing new, what with things like Sudowoodo and Shiftry, Trevenant just struck the right chord for me. While it wasn't an overly original idea for them, it was one that was done with a fresh perspective and let's face, so embodies the feeling of autumn and Halloween that it's crazy, especially the shiny coloration, hence why specifically I went with it here.
This was easily the most demanding and difficult picture I did for this whole countdown, but well worth the effort. I think it came out perfectly and is something worthy of ranking into the Top 10 or higher, looking at it just gives you that stark, haunted feeling of the holiday... not to toot my own horn or anything, just saying. I wish I could say more, but that's about it, there are two Pokemon I'm solidly happy about and this picture turned out well, I can't always have an essay prepared for these things.
