IM SUCH A SCUMBAG I MADE MY CREATION THING INTO A SPECIES WHO AM I ANYMORE.
I actually had a lot of fun with it though so that's the important part :D
Here is my Alpha! Her name is Aqua De Vida (Aqua for short)
INTRODUCING ALPHAS
a distant cousin to beta fish (See what I did there? ;D)
What are Alphas?
Alphas are a cousin to the Beta fish. When submerged in water, they become a mer-creature, when dry they have legs just like you and me. Their facial features are very round and soft; their skin is made of ultra smooth and soft scales. The most outstanding feature on an Alpha are their "Ribbon" fins. They are always brightly coloured and they show health as well as aid in finding a mate. These fins are made of a very thin, slightly transparent film that is very soft and delicate.
About Markings
Alphas bodies are always more of a pastel colour; light and less bright. Their markings on their bodies can essentially be anything. The only specific mark that all Alphas share is a large spot on their foreheads. The bigger the spot, the older the Alpha.
Their Ribbons and fins can also be any design under the sun. That being said, they are always brightly coloured. If an alpha has a dimly coloured fin, this shows sickness or depression.
Alpha temperament
Alphas are very social creatures and love to be with one another; contrary to their cousin the beta fish. Think of Alphas more like dolphins in this aspect. They love to play games and be social with one another as well as with other critters. An alpha can become distressed and depressed if alone for too long.
Alpha food
Alphas are omnivores. They mostly eat fruits, veggies or whatever other plant life they can get their hands on, but their favorite meat to consume is actually fish (halibut to be specific).
Alpha reproduction
Alphas actually bear live young. They only will have one child when giving birth. Because of this, parents are extremely protective of their young and they have a very high functioning family life. When about to give birth, if the Alpha is in the water, she must find a beach to change into her humanoid form. alphas cannot give birth while in mer-form. From there, the birthing is very similar to human birth. Babies will not be able to access their mer-forms until early childhood so after giving birth, the parents must then adapt to life on the surface for a few years. After doing this, many parents decide to stay above and live the rest of their lives on land.
Alpha life expectancy
Alphas potentially are able to live just as long as humans; up to 80+ years. That being said, most do not if they life their lives in the water as predation is a very high threat. The largest, most dominant threat to alphas are sharks. If the Alpha lives above water in their humanoid forms, then they live their lives as most other critters. Babies reach maturity in the same manner as humans as well in a similar time frame.
I think that's it. If you have quetions, just ask!
These are a closed species for now, please refrain from making your own!
if people like these, i might sell a couple at a cheap price, WHO KNOWS.
