This is Cody, the Nanday Conure I recently adopted. His previous owners had him about three months and think he's about a year now, but his feet are super pink and smooth, so I dunno. Anyway, I find the name Cody kinda eh, so I'm re-naming him.
I like weird names. I mean, my cat's Horatio (My last cat was Dr. Seuss), my dog's are Ruby and Guillermo, and my boyfriend's adopted dog was force-named Aloysius on my part. I also have Ozzy, the Sun Conure, who was also adopted but I kept his name (He's 11 years old). I named my dad's dog Alcatraz, I had a ferret named Attica. I'm nuts about horror movies. I don't know, just kind of an idea of my name-tastes.
I'm stuck with this little guy though. No ideas. He may or may not even be a he. I don't really have a reason to get DNA testing other than curiousity at this point, so who knows.
So this is my plea. Help me name my bird. ;_; I'll move this to scraps later or move it I promise.

Oh god I'd absolutely love to talk birds with you sometime. Do you use AIM? I have a Sun Conure too-- This little guy's actually considerably quieter... Either way, I'm pretty good at zoning out noises when I need to so the early morning and late night ruckus doesn't bother me much. Conures are just so funny. I haven't met anyone with an Indian Ringneck and I'm super-curious to know more about them. A lot of available information seems a little out-dated.
I'd love to talk birds. :) I'm summer.jackel@gmail.com, for gchat (also my gmail addy) or we could email if that doesn't work.
I've found surprisingly little about IRNs, given that it isn't an uncommon species...and there is a lot of misinformation out there. That said, I just recently rescued Ozzie, so we are definitely still in the learning-about-each-other phase. He's made a lot of progress, though---he'll easily step onto a stick and is tolerating more close contact with me. He likes being allowed out of his cage sometimes and having a decent cage and toys, poor thing, none of which he'd had for at least a year before I got him.
My longer-term flock consists of Gavin, a green cheeked conure, and Miz Kaya, who is a Meyer's x Senegal mutt. They are sweeties.

oh yeah, conures are so awesome. I love them; they are so bold and playful! (and bratty, heh)
I love the Aratingas but never want one again...my childhood parrot (who died tragically) was a Mexican green conure who I loved with all my heart---but man was he ever loud. The pyrhurras are soooooooooooo much quieter.

Adebisi was one of the first things I thought of. X3 But yeah I think I'm going with Toledo, it's fitting and fun to say. Maynard's a fucking awesome one though. I've been thinking lately if I ever get a second cat he's gonna have to be fluffy and grey and named Grissom to go with my Horatios.
The more I hear from you the more infatuated I get (Sounds creepy don't it?). Hells yes Aloysius Pendergast, Douglas Preston & Lincoln Childs are my favorite writers in existance. I think I've read The Cabinet of Curiousities at least fifty times. My copy so battered and worn it looks like it could crumble if you poked it too hard. That said, the dog's a husky with white-blue eyes, I couldn't help myself. But yeah, I actually seriously considered Adebisi for a while but I just can't get him to wear a little hat. I think I might go with Sync's Toledo suggestion-- He's also got these little red feathers by his feet I could totally picture him as a little executioner even if he's super-sweet. X3
I grinned like a retard [I do that a lot] and giggled when I saw this comment. 8D one of my best friends, Oliver, is a big fan of Preston & Childs too! I've only read Relic once, but I totally will do that again in a little while, because I really liked it. :B Hahah i love my battered copies of 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea and stuff<3. I've replaced a few different books multiple times, hee. Oh my god Aloysius sounds perfect for his namesake. Toledo is an awesome name!!
Advance to Reliquary after re-reading Relic, you'll get hooked. It finishes off the story arc from Relic in a way involving homeless people who've been living in the abanoned train tunnels beneath New York City and decapitated bodies coming out the sewer. It's really really hard to put down and the next book, The Cabinet of Curiousities (though you can read Thunderhead between and it makes more sense) is the best. Seriously.
I love 20,000 leagues under the sea too. I started reading it at a really young age, and I'm super-fascinated with underwater beasties. The only nightmares I have that actually instill fear in me are elaborate dreams about undead sea creatures. For some reason the fact that it scares me pleases me to the point where I'm always scavaging up various sea creature stuff. I had this whole thing where I wanted to write a horror movie script after they discovered the Colossal Squid about the Kraken. I don't know. I'm rambling. X3
