Sorry for the re-upload of mostly the same thing, this is the same as another submission, posted to assist in discussions there.

Okay, this seems to aid in my original hunch.
This looks better, but contains the same fault. The color-diversity is what's killing it.
You are using Black and Red, which stick out in 2 different directions. If you were to apply something like Black and Dark-Gray, I'd bet they'll blend in more-thus throwing of the color-diversity that affects the outlook of the shading.
As a hint for the first colors, use a lighter Blue where the Black is, A standard Blue where the Red is(Or vice-versa), and I think that would eliminate the problem for the most part.
Assuming how glossing effects work: it's not the colors, but how glossing affects the colors as they would normally be seen.

Well, the black is actually the window to the outside, and the red is the carpet, so I can't change those colors on the model without changing the carpet she's standing on or putting some texture on the outside windows.
So really, this whole discussion boils down to "don't make the texture reflective like a mirror". Or convince it to reflect blue a little better. It's entirely possible that I'm too lazy to bother, though. Plus I think mirrored surfaces look cool ;). (Stupidly, perhaps, but such as it is.)
Bah, too tired; need sleep.
