This is my Yea, icon/sticker. Idea came to me after being insulted by another for not being edgicated enough for his liking. Yea one can be all book smart, but the one thing they don't learn in some fancy rah-rah university is street smarts.

As important as an education is, i think there is too much of an emphasis on education today. When I applied for a technician position at a factory a few years ago, I was top candidate for the position. I was involved with the construction and set up of equipment in a another plant owned by the same company in another city, identical to this one, so I already knew the ins and outs of all the equipment they had. I was made an offer, but was not allowed to accept. Their HR department had a requirement that you must posses a college degree. Even if it was unrelated to anything in the job. I did not attend college, and so I was disqualified.
In a sense, there always has. Perhaps the most shameful part is how that diluted notion of intelligence is overstated with the outrageous price tag of a college degree.
Some day, possibly rather soon, so many of these old notions may become too antique to even matter. But then, I can see a not-so-distant future where one wears Augmented Glasses at the job site and regardless how complicated or new the procedure may be, clear instructions fed by The Cloud will endlessly be there to instruct on basically everything. And...why not? By then, everyone will be learning from elementary to college level classes via the next generation of YouTube, anyhow.

Its not exact, but I think a quote from Einstein went something along the lines of 'if you judge a fish on its ability to climb a tree, it will go its whole like believing it is stupid.' There are different kinds of smarts and skill sets. Don't let some fart-head make you feel bad.
I'll use myself as an example. I'm a very creative individual, always coming up with new ideas, and I tend to be a 'vat of useless information' (self appointed title) but there are many things I don't know. I'm no good at math, I know next to nothing about cars, or computer parts. I couldn't code a computer program, I'm not very good with history or geography, and a lot of times I'll forget what day it is or whats been happening the past several days. But I'm still good at the things I'm good at, and I enjoy them. Doing what you love and makes you happy is what makes you smart. Don't let anyone tell you otherwise.

Got to admit to being slightly confused, here. Are you representing yourself as being a kind of 'wolf in sheep's clothing' by appearing to be something that another expects of you to look/act like? Or did you show the idiot a kind of street vengeance and have quite literally turned the offender into an external set of clothes? To my point of view...it could go in either direction.
I had seen thia hapeI had seen this happening for some time now. It seems than some people, the ones that do de hiring process (HR in particular) tend to see people as morons that stop learning in the moment they left the classroms. With this in mind they seem to think: why should i hire someone with only a high school degree (even if he had years of relevant work experience) when i can get someone with a bs or even a master for the same price? the phenomenom has been here for quite some time and it has added to the development of the so called mickey mouse degrees, career choices that some people takes (and some schools offer) that exist not for the sake of providing state of the art knowledge in the subyect but only to provide a shiny pice of paper that certify you as a bs in something or even a master, with the sole proupouse of giving an edge at the moment of hiring and nothing more.
I think that in this country there is to much emphasis put on weather or not if one has a college degree, and how fancy of a lamb-skin that it might be. Yes you can Mr. Data artist bragging on how much better he is than the average person, and/or how much smarter he is than a hick with bad grammar. Yet is some major disaster were to ever happen that knocked off all electronics, he would be one of the first to die off because unlike the hick who can barely spell his name has the skills to survive off of the land because threw out life that is what he was brought up on.
I know what it's like to be discriminated against from not getting a degree. I've seen people who get hired in higher spots off the street with degree that have no clue on what's really going on. They might be text book savvy but likes the knowledge of one who has been there for a long time or the abilities on how to deal with people. One thing that text books don't teach is true interaction with people, but now you have these college rah-rah professors come up the things like on campus safe room instead on one learning how to deal with problems like being called some sort of name.
My schooling was one big struggle because of my learning disabilities, but now there are tools and computer technology that can help people with the issues that I have. Yet you have idiots prescribing drugs in stead of learning how to deal around the problems that they have. Yes you do need medications to help with things, but they shouldn't be used to hinder on who one is.
