Subject #4
Chapter 1: The Lost Generation
It was insane, they said. It was horrific, murderous, and abominable even. For them to continue researching and experimenting on precious life; both human and humanoid. Though, their cause was for an unknown cause as they hid and told everyone that it was for just. Yet, brave, noble volunteers willingly trusted their bodies in the company. January 5, 2020 and It was only a matter of time before another being was let loose unto the world. They named him, Subject Four.. There wasn’t much to know or was known about him, except that unlike most of the other volunteers and bodies, they started his line when he was still just a cell. Crafted, molded by the scientists in the company. They worked around the clock for his success, until he was old enough to be tested with the others. It proved to be their utmost achievement for his batch. Strong, quick, steadfast; he proved himself worthy of his sole name. Aside from his subjected identification, he was given his own rights and name by the head professor, Maxwell. The professor was fond of his great works, as everyone knew. He named quite a handful of his subjects himself. He gave the boy a name; a name suited for his mischievous, fiendish yet witty ways..
“Happy birthday, young one. Do you know yourself now?” The figure asked. “I am Subject Four of the Vixtek Advanced Biomechanical Army, battalion 101st,, sector 8.” The boy firmly replied with a cheeky grin. “Now don’t you think that’s a bit too long of a name? I asked you a simple question. How about a meek one instead” He suggested, as the young boy gestured in return “Yes, sir?” Faded, the night went by. It was then, that a ravenous dawn was at hand.
Glitch Alexander Vixious, he was named. He did not want to disappoint Professor Maxwell for his benevolent action, he did everything to preserve his new foundation.
July 15, 2039 – As if the generation was not yet in shambles, it was finally time for him to experience the outside world. It was over half the year Glitch chose to start his official mission. Thinking as he toyed with his breakfast, rolling that one glob of pea with his fork. One of his close friends approached him, hitting his shoulder playfully to bump his mood.
“Bring her back, no more, no less. We’ve entrusted you all these years, now is not the time to go back. Good luck, Subject Four” Gestured the head professor. “This is what I was trained for.. but what’s more, didn’t you call me something else? I do have a name now, you know” Mockingly, Glitch laughed as he got into the cockpit of his plane. Outside, overlooking his plane, watched the rest of his development team with Professor Maxwell. A countdown started, echoing through the metal walls.
“Project VIGILANTE is now in order, ladies and gentlemen. To yours stations. Operation in T minus 10… 9… 8… 7… 6… 5… “ As the countdown proceeded, Glitch surveyed at the panel in front of him. He whole team looking at their screens along with the Professor. “…4… 3… 2… 1… Engage. “ The room was filled by the loud, ascending high-pitched noise of the thrusters accumulating power. A bluish aura gathering at the very back of Glitch’s shuttle before the whole aircraft started hovering towards the exit. Without a moment’s notice, it left the runway’s threshold. Professor Maxwell thought to himself before looking at the working crew, “Here marks the start of a new generation.. “ His eyes rolled down on a screen, showing Glitch’s location from a tracking device.
In the bustling city of New York, hid the deadliest, most notorious crime gang topping first in FBI’s most wanted list, The Sinned Blood. Somewhere in the old underground structures, spoke voices. “I thought you said you sold the bag to the kid?! That was a lot of money for a scam, you dumb retard!”, “Look man, we can just say there wasn’t much in the bag and that was all it cost us. No fucking worries”
“Yeah, well, I’m pretty sure he ain’t that stupid”. As the two thugs opened a huge, steel door in front of them, it creaked throughout the long, dark hallway. A menacing laugh greeted their entrance, “My boys, my boys.. So! How was the stroll?” The first thug replied, “Cut the crap, we’re done. 20% pay right, rat?” He threw the duffle bag of cash in front of the seated rat. “Goooood grief. I thought you’ll have to kiss the floor again first before you give me my shit”, he laughed hysterically before skipping off. He threw off his bowler hat to the side while taking his steps on the small stairs. “Pleasure doing business with you gents.. “ The rat encircles around them, smirking and giggling under his breath. The two thugs glance at each other in anxiety, nervous of the nimble figure. “Though, there is one thing you two need to learn about Liam Romero. See, whatever’s in that cruddy bag ain’t even my shit. It’s someone else’s.. And if it’s not mine, then it’s not theirs. Sooooooo, you lads should know that THAT is bad for business.. Lies, boys, lies are bad for business” The rat introduced, armed men starting to surround the three. He adds, “Now, I may or maaaay not be a the most trustworthy being in this filthy room.. “ The two muggers looking around them and fidgeting at the handle of their guns. “Wait—“ One of them whispered nervously. “..And I maaaay or may not even take the bag anyways… “ Sounds of clacking and firearms cocking surround the quiet room. “..It ain’t my call” Liam ended as the guards aimed and fired at the two victims, covering them with bullet holes. Echoed throughout the room and long corridors did the noise of gunfire.
As daylight faded, the nightlife sparked a different aura all around the city. Neon lights, street lights; colors to illuminate spread around. A boy took off his hood on his head, taking a good look around at the busy atmosphere, smiling as he walked on the sidewalk. Looking at the merchandise for sale in the stores and stands. “A lovely city, eh? Hopefully, you’re not lost?” A cat girl greeted the taller feline. “I’m not. Thanks for the concern, but you can mind your own business--” Replied Glitch, but seemed to be cut off by the young female. “Ha! You’re silly.. I’m your escort, Number Four. I have your files with me from HQ. They’ve already assigned your low-profile settlement for now. Follow me? “ She giggled as she nudged Glitch’s side and familiarized herself, “I’m Maya Westley, by the way! I’m in the research security unit”. “Yeah, well, you’re not so low-profile with yourself announcing your info and all that crap in public, are you now? “ Glitch chuckled. It was an hour-long hike to this ragged hotel just near the exit of the city leading to New Rochelle. As they checked in, the front man greeted them with a good evening and went on with his accounting duties. He seemed quite busy as Glitch glanced at him. The hotel was that to be expected of an old, classic-style inn. The elevator nearly guises to give up; rusted, slow and the buttons were a bit hard to push. As the two walked down 5th floor hallway, they came across a tan door. “Room 508” It said, with a Do-Not-Disturb sign hanging on the handle. Maya searched for her keys in all her pockets, “Heh- Sorry, big fan of clothing with a loooooot of pockets! “ The sound of metallic-instruments chiming whenever she dug her hands in her pockets. Glitch looked around awkwardly as he was getting a bit impatient. “Yeah, I can see that.. “ He replied. “Got it!” Maya took out an oddly shaped key with a diamond keychain hanging behind it. She opened the door, but quickly ducked out of the sudden as Glitch swiftly grabbed for his concealed firearm. To his misfortune, a solid blow reached the side of his head, his temple bleeding a bit. A blurred effigy looked at him closely, confused but continued to poke him to the side with a bat. “…You better be right” His vision faded to a black void with nothing more but silence.
