This Picture means a lot to me cause its the only butterfly pic I feel I took well. I don't normally share any personal photos or hobby photos with FA However I felt I needed to post something so I thought I would share something that meant a great deal to me and this picture is one of those things.
I managed this by complete luck or maybe something else. I was on a vacationing trip with the family in the Smoky Mountains of Tennessee last summer and we were out doing some walking in the Cade's Cove park the area we stopped in for awhile was full off the Yellow Tiger Swallowtail butterflies and no matter what I tried i couldn't get a picture of any of them. I know I had kept trying for least two hours and every time I thought I got it either the picture had no butterfly or some kind of lighting issue would happen. Frustration was sinking in a bit but I wasn't unhappy cause looking up to see the space above me filled with all these bright creature fluttering around just made my spirit feel light and happy and I decided even if I didn't get a picture I was happy with the memory. I started packing up my stuff at the that point cause it was also starting to get dark and despite the beauty the place is heavily populated with bear. I would much prefer the nice 20 or 30 minute walk back to the car area and not a 5 minute Bear run. So as i knelt down on the ground to put the camera back in the case this particular butterfly landed right in front of me. It was the only one of its color among the masses of them there. I kinda had a "you gotta be kidding me" moment. so I too the chance and snapped the pic. By the time I pulled back from the camera it was already flying away so I didn't bother to check results till I got back to where I was staying that night only to find this little treasure.
So that's how the picture happened but thinking about it had me thinking "which is dangerous".
All those butterflies were flying around and I couldn't keep up or it would fly away if I got to close. however there was one that stopped one that had come in my direction sharing a moment of its life with me in that space. In a way its kinda like people. we wait for the one special one to land Give us time however another thought is maybe someone is waiting on you to land for them and what you find in that moment could make a lifetime.
