Entering the Chapel, you find the darkened chapel beautiful in an unnerving way. Looking around the room, you see sconces still lit, and votive candles still burning on side altars. Although the Dust is disturbed, the chapel hasn’t been in use for aeons. In the murky church; the scents, the sights and growing dread within, this does not strike you as a place of faith.
Wandering back towards the altar, you noticed carved steps leading beneath the floor of the church. Eager to check out what lies beneath and despite your unease you take those stairs.
Descending the staircase, you come to a great vault, filled with stone tombs. The tombs are sculpted of varying stones, in a pastiche of styles from different eras. Some of them have carved effigies of the deceased on the top, others are far simpler inscribed only with dates.
One sits alone.
Carved of black stone, it is one of the plainer tombs. It is un-inscribed, and as you near it, you can clearly see there is no lid to this coffin. In fact, the tomb is empty. Strangely isolated from the rest of the tombs in a private vault, it has an odd aura about it. Circling it in curiosity, you soon can’t help yourself from getting a closer look. Transfixed, you stare into that empty tomb, that gnawing darkness of the coffin draws you in, deeper and deeper.
The feeling changes from a lure to a drain. You feel weaker, unable to break your stare, and unable to move. As the realization hits, there’s nothing more you can do. You have been claimed.
The coffin is draining your soul, your very essence. It strips away your skin and flesh, taking your organs and blood all the same. From your polished bones, a baleful energy suffuses you with malignance, necromantic energies bind your conscious to your bones. Your hollow eye sockets blaze with a sinister glow; now devoid of natural life, you have become the SKELETON

What haunted Mansion/castle/spookable domicile would be complete without a skeleton?
