I think it was! I can't say it's my favorite Dragon Quest game from the games I've played so far, but I really enjoyed it. Apparently the original Playstation version was 100 hours long but for the 3DS remake they cut down on backtracking and stuff. There's more after so I'm not quite done yet!
And thank you, it's all fun.

I'd suggest starting with Dragon Quest IV for the DS!
If you can find it, anyway. Otherwise, Dragon Quest VII may be good at easing in people since it's a lot easier than the other games I've played.
Dragon Quest is an odd RPG in that it insists on staying in outdated RPG standards, so it's up to you if you wanna deal with that.

Well, I've played quite a few other RPGs - older ones, I mean. So I think I can handle it. I'll aim for the first one you mentioned but, if it isn't possible I'll go with the latter. :T
I tend to take things slowly/defensively so it'll probably take far longer for me to beat them (if I manage to).

This is really cute! I love how their curves give off the impression of grooving into each other. Makes it feel more intimate.
Also, I'm only 15 hours in so far and I'm LOVING IT. It's made me smile SO FREQUENTLY. It's made me think about history and legacy after I stop playing. More than I can say for most any other RPG with longwinded world-building and codices, etc.
DQV is my favorite that I've played. I think it has the most tightly written, focused scenario and is able to vary the gameplay without getting too gimmicky or metagamey. Class changing is fun but I don't know if DQ has ever done it as well as, say, Final Fantasy V. Also: Deborah. If you haven't married her on your first playthrough, do it immediately. She's the bomb.
I love how DQ makes you close the game after saves where you don't want to continue and for endings. It's a beautiful, personal touch.

I always strive to give my drawings depth, that way they can be believable, so it's good that you noticed! Touching fat together does that, after all.
15 hours? Well by the time I type this you're probably further, I gotta ask what your reaction was to the Alltrades Abbey once you got there.
I married Bianca because I felt that was the option that was most canon, and after reading about things online I am a bit glad for that ahah. DQV is definitely my favorite, and from what I hear, a fan favorite in general. I really wish that 3D remake was released here.
I never did think of it that way, I was too busy wondering what the point is when I can just reset it and play more anyway!

I just got through past Abbey and... oh my god. EVEN THE PROMOTIONAL MATERIAL SHOWS THE... If it didn't have one of the better little tales so far, I would have been too infuriated to continue. Not unexpected of Dragon Quest but... I spent about 20 minutes thinking about who I wanted as what class based on their clothes and everything! I actually screamed "WHAT" and stood up, and went to bed.
The other options still have depth, though, if you ever go back to it, even if the game directs you to 'em less. Deborah has an actual, gradual arc, and your kids with her have these really adorable perspectives on her. And of course, Nerra's got DA SPELLS.

Yeah man, I thought we left that in the past! Dragon Quest is a series that strives to stay in the past though, for better or worse.
I gotta say it is for me too, but I try not to stray too much into what could be considered AU territory because I like to keep up with what I've already established for the wolves! This was more of a joke pic.
