I'd had ideas for a Final Fantasy storyline but I couldn't seem to tie all the pieces together, or decide which guy should be the main character. Then it hit me - Moogles!

The kingdom of Mycella has persisted for thousands of years, and has grown to be the largest empire on the continent, if not the entire world. However fifty years ago it was foretold that the Powers That Be would send a winged champion into the world, and that child would spell Mycella's doom. Desperate to hold on to their power, Mycellan agents have tracked down and slain every champion to date, which while unsavory, has been relatively easy, since these children are born with wings and thus are easy to find.

However the latest of these champions is a moogle, and moogles are winged already. Respen has no idea about his part in a greater destiny, and spends his time practicing the white arts for the day he leaves his small village.
