This is a kiln chamber which will create an atmosphere designed to dry lumber at a fast rate without sacrificing lumber quality. In this case, poplar, spruce, and pine will be heated to 120 degrees Fahrenheit. As a result, moisture will leave the lumber and create a humid environment. A dehumidifier will monitor and maintain a set humidity level to the effect of controlling moisture content loss of the wood. Softwoods, such as pine and spruce, are generally able to lose a high rate of moisture content per day as opposed to hardwoods like oak and cherry. As such, and with the benefit of the drought we've had, this load should be ready by the end of next week. The goal is to have the building not only erected, but finished with siding, roofing, and paint by November 1st. In the meantime, I will spend nearly all of next week moving and splitting firewood to clear an area for the foundation. I hope by Friday I will be finished with not only the firewood, but also have the foundation ready for setting the base.
